ToolCat utility vehicle does it all

Athletic Turf News

Toolcat 5600 utility work machine operators can now do more with less equipment due to the addition of four new approved attachments, rear hydraulic and power take-off (PTO) kits, and an enhanced drive system. The Toolcat 5600, which combines all the best features of a utility loader, pickup truck, and attachment carrier, is the only machine of its kind and is

manufactured by Bobcat Company.

Bobcat Company is adding the Brushcat rotary cutter, sweeper, landscape rake, and combination bucket to the more than 25 attachments already approved for the utility work machine. Bobcat representatives say the additional attachments will enable landscapers to complete jobs from start to finish

“The Toolcat 5600 operates a full range of attachments from the Brushcat rotary cutter and flail cutter for land clearing, the tiller and soil conditioner for prepping, and the box blade, landplane, and grader for finish work,” says Rob Otterson, Bobcat Company marketing manager. “The sod layer and the seeder then finish the job, and the sprayer and seeder can be used for upkeep.”

The newly added rotary cutter is ideal for grounds pros who need to cut through the toughest grass and brush and mulch small branches and saplings up to three inches in diameter.

The sweeper attachment allows grounds managers to clean dirt and debris from jobsites where brushing material off to the side is not acceptable. The sweeper attachment sweeps in both forward and reverse and collects and dumps dirt and debris to make fast work of cleaning parking lots, sidewalks, and other areas. It can also be used to spread material evenly across a jobsite.

Attaching the landscape rake to the Toolcat 5600 enables an operator to prepare the ground for seeding and sodding by breaking up lumpy soil, picking up rocks as small as 3/4 inch, and leveling the ground. Lastly, the combination bucket, which can be used for dozing, grappling, leveling, digging, loading, and dumping, makes it easier for landscapers to dump material into a truck or spread it more evenly across a lawn.

The ability to attach rear hydraulic and PTO kits to the 5600 increases the versatility of the machine by making it compatible with rear implements or hydraulic power tools. For example, with the rear hydraulic and PTO kits, landscapers can power implements like the sickle mower, grass and leaf blower, and batwing finish mower.

Both primary and remote rear hydraulic kits are available. The primary rear hydraulic kit enables the operator to turn the system on and off with an electronic switch located on the dash of the 5600, while the remote hydraulic kit provides a manual diverter valve located on the passenger side under the hydraulic box.

Landscapers also will find it easier to level loads while lifting with pallet forks because the tilt linkage is limited to a 30-degree angle at maximum boom lift. This degree of angle will keep the load more level and balanced, providing operators with superior control when lifting loads. Also, the tilt linkage redesign improves the Toolcat 5600 utility work machine’s lifting capabilities and attachment rollback force, allowing the use of heavier attachments like the Brushcat rotary cutter.

In addition to these newly added options and features, the 5600 comes equipped with four-wheel drive, all-wheel steering, a 2,000-pound capacity cargo box with hydraulic dump, hydrostatic drive system, 18 mph maximum travel speed, 17-foot turning diameter, and an enclosed cab with optional heating and air conditioning.
